Graeme Coutts - Chief Executive Officer
Graeme Coutts is an experienced finance professional with a strong track record in property-backed lending, credit structuring, and investment management. As Chief Executive Officer of Torrent Securities Limited, he is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the business, including capital formation, investment governance, and the development and management of the firm’s lending platforms.
Graeme has extensive experience across the New Zealand property and finance markets, with a focus on originating, structuring, and managing secured lending transactions. His expertise spans development finance, bridging facilities, and portfolio lending, with a disciplined approach to credit assessment and risk management across the full lifecycle of each investment.
He has played a central role in establishing Torrent Securities’ investment framework, including its credit processes, risk management systems, and investor reporting standards. Graeme works closely with both investors and borrowers to ensure alignment of interests and the consistent delivery of risk-adjusted returns.
As CEO, Graeme leads the firm’s engagement with institutional partners, professional advisers, and wholesale investors, and is responsible for ensuring that all investment activity is conducted in accordance with the firm’s governance standards and regulatory obligations.
Michael Gale - General Manager
Michael Gale is a highly experienced property professional and business leader with over 30 years’ experience across the corporate, public, and private sectors. He brings extensive expertise in real estate investment, development, and the structuring and execution of complex property transactions.
Michael has a strong track record in originating and negotiating structured real estate deals, leading projects from initial concept, delivery and market realisation. His experience spans residential, industrial, commercial sectors including large-scale urban development, with a deep understanding of planning processes, stakeholder engagement, valuation analysis and project optimisation.
As General Manager, Michael is responsible for supporting capital raising initiatives, investment strategy, and overseeing the evaluation, structuring, and ongoing management of lending opportunities. He works closely with the Board to ensure each transaction is assessed and managed in line with Torrent Securities’ investment objectives and risk framework.
Michael Kohling - External Accountant (2K Consulting)
Michael Kohing is a Chartered Accountant and Director at 2K Consulting Limited, where he provides accounting, financial reporting, and advisory services to a range of New Zealand businesses.
Michael acts as the external accountant to Torrent Securities Limited, supporting the firm across financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting oversight. Through 2K Consulting, he provides independent, professional accounting services, ensuring that the company’s financial records, reporting processes, and statutory obligations are maintained to a high standard.
With extensive experience in public practice, Michael brings a strong understanding of financial governance, compliance requirements, and the practical application of accounting standards across growing businesses and investment structures.
In his role supporting Torrent Securities, Michael works alongside management and advisers to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment with regulatory and tax requirements.

David Kitson, CAANZ – Independent Director
David Kitson is an experienced finance and investment professional with a strong background in funds management, capital structuring, and credit markets. He brings a commercially focused perspective to governance, with deep experience across lending, investment strategy, and investor engagement.
David is an Executive Director of Quarry Capital, where he has been involved in the development and management of investment platforms, including credit and property-focused strategies. His experience includes the structuring of investment vehicles, capital raising initiatives, and the ongoing management of investor relationships within a wholesale investment environment.
Throughout his career, David has worked across a range of investment and financial services roles, developing a strong understanding of risk-adjusted returns, portfolio construction, and the dynamics of private capital markets. He brings a pragmatic, commercially driven approach to investment decision-making, balanced with a focus on disciplined governance and transparency.
David is a Chartered Accountant and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). He is a Director and Principal of 2K Consulting Limited, Chartered Accountants.
As an Independent Director, David contributes to investment oversight, capital strategy, and governance, supporting the firm’s objective of delivering consistent performance within a robust risk management framework.
Peter James Beirne, ACA, BBS – Independent Director
Peter Beirne is a senior executive and finance professional with over 40 years’ leadership experience across health systems, infrastructure-intensive organisations, energy and complex regulated environments in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
He has held Chief Executive and Finance Director/CFO roles across large-scale health systems and infrastructure-intensive organisations, with responsibility for significant operational budgets and capital programmes. His experience includes oversight of financial performance, governance frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance in highly scrutinised environments.
Peter brings deep expertise in financial stewardship, audit and risk governance, and organisational oversight, with a strong focus on maintaining disciplined control environments and ensuring accountability at both management and board level.
As an Independent Director, Peter provides objective oversight across financial reporting, credit risk, and governance processes, supporting Torrent Securities’ commitment to strong compliance standards and institutional-grade investment management.
